KDE snaps fixed, Thank you for your support

Posted on March 15, 2025 by sgmoore

Thank you everyone for keeping the lights on for a bit longer. KDE snaps have been restored. I also released 24.12.3! In addition, I have moved “most” snaps to core24. The remaining snaps need newer qt6/kf6, which is a WIP. “The Bad luck girl” has been hit once again with another loss, so with that, I will be reducing my hours on snaps while I consider my options for my future. I am still around, just a bit less. Thanks again everyone, if you can get me through one more ( lingering broken arm ) surgery I would be forever

KDE Snaps are broken, sorry lights out for now

Posted on February 19, 2025 by sgmoore

All core22 KDE snaps are broken. There is not an easy fix. We have used kde-neon repos since inception and haven’t had issues until now. libEGL fatal: DRI driver not from this Mesa build (‘23.2.1-1ubuntu3.1~22.04.3’ vs ‘23.2.1-1ubuntu3.1~22.04.2’) Apparently Jammy had a mesa update? Option 1: Rebuild our entire stack without neon repos ( fails due to dependencies not in Jammy, would require tracking down all of these and build from source ) Option 2: Finish the transition to core24 ( This is an enormous task and will take some time still ) Either option will take more time and effort

Hacked and tis the season for surgeries

Posted on December 4, 2024 by sgmoore

I am still here. Sadly while I battle this insane infection from my broken arm I got back in July, the hackers got my blog. I am slowly building it back up. Further bad news is I have more surgeries, first one tomorrow. Furthering my current struggles I cannot start my job search due to hospitalization and recovery. Please consider a donation. https://gofund.me/6e99345d On the open source work front, I am still working on stuff, mostly snaps ( Apps 24.08.3 released ) Thank you everyone that voted me into the Ubuntu Community Council! I am trying to stay positive, but

Kubuntu 24.10 Released, KDE Snaps at 24.08.2, and I lived to tell you about it!

Posted on October 14, 2024 by sgmoore

Sorry my blog updates have been MIA. Let me tell you a story… As some of you know, 3 months ago I was in a no fault car accident. Thankfully, the only injury was I ended up with a broken arm. ER sends me home in a sling and tells me it was a clean break and it will mend itself in no time. After a week of excruciating pain I went to my follow up doctor appointment, and with my x-rays in hand, the doc tells me it was far from a clean break and needs surgery. So after

Another loss last week of a friend. I am staying strong and working through it. A big thank you to all of you that have donated to my car fund, I still have a long way to go. I am not above getting a cheap old car, but we live in sand dunes so it must be a cheap old car with 4×4 to get to my property. A vehicle is necessary as we are 50 miles away from staples such as food and water. We also have 2 funerals to attend. Please consider a donation if my work is
